Diane Anderson

Cathy Stubbington, CFP

It’s not everyday that a personal trainer, yoga teacher, Thai massage practitioner and entertainer team up together in one person, never mind that they team up with a clinical counsellor! But my multi-faceted approach to helping people heal their painful relationships with their bodies came to the attention of Diane Anderson & Associates in 2005.

Having crossed paths professionally, Diane asked me to work with her clients who struggled with eating disorders, weight, or body image issues. In addition, I work with clients who want to improve their well-being after years of ignoring their physical body, neglecting their health, exercising incorrectly, or being too busy to find balance in their lives.

Knowing how Diane works in her clinical practice, I have, in turn, referred clients to her when it is clear that their lack of success with their health and fitness programs are a result of deeper emotional issues. Both Diane and I are committed to comprehensively addressing our client’s hurtful patterns and behaviours. This collaboration maximizes our clients’ outcomes and enhances both of our areas of expertise.

I was introduced to a daily yoga practice my mother at age four and to Pilates through my dance background. Since then, I embarked on formal studies of Anatomy & Physiology, Nutrition, modern and alternative health care, and Hatha yoga, to heal my own body and to eventually became a yoga teacher, Thai Massage Practitioner, Certified Fitness Professional and Personal Trainer.

During this time, I instinctively made the connection between mind and body in my own training as well as with clients. I knew I had to seek out further training that incorporated “psychophysiology”—the connection of human movement and body awareness to emotional development. That is also why I choose to work with Diane, as her understanding of the psychological or emotional factors in a person’s behaviour enhances my work with the body.

I have developed a REFORMATIVE APPROACH to fitness training. My commitment is to empower my clients to reconnect with their bodies and achieve their maximum health and fitness potential. I believe true health and happiness is the balance of body, mind and spirit. Through my unique programs and services, I help clients to obtain true health and happiness through self-empowerment, education, awareness and healthy lifestyle choices.

I incorporate many techniques into my holistic teaching and training repertoire including studies in:

  • Northern Style Thai Massage
  • Body Rolling
  • Physiology and Biomechanics
  • Chakra Balancing
  • Energy Work
  • Mediation
  • Hatha and Ashtanga Yoga
  • Nutritional counseling and Analysis

Practicing what I preach, I am a fitness, yoga and outdoors enthusiast. I have a passion for snowboarding, mountain biking, hiking and backpacking. I have continually self-studied many aspects of human nutrition, modern and alternative health care since 1990.
